Valley Makers Association has a connection with the Startup Shenandoah Valley accelerator incubator program through Staunton Creative Community Fund!

Are you an experienced business professional interested in sharing your knowledge with some of the most exciting early-stage companies in the Shenandoah Valley?

The Startup Shenandoah Valley Program has three (3) types of mentorship opportunities with different time commitments. Lead mentors commit about an hour a week and work in a one-on-one pair with a company. Functional mentors are individuals with expertise in specific professional services (such as accounting, marketing, tech support, legal, etc.) who commit 1-2 hours per month and advise our founders in their area of expertise. We are also always looking for people with valuable startup experience for interviews and meet with our founders on a short-term basis.

For lead mentor pairing or "mentor madness" as we refer to it,  we ask each mentor to record a two-minute video where they introduce themselves and talk about their strengths as a mentor. The founders in the program do the same (with a focus on what they're looking for in a mentor). Then, each group will rank their best matches. It doesn't need to be a high-quality video - something recorded on a cell phone is fine. Once the mentors and entrepreneurs have submitted their rankings, the SCCF staff will evaluate the data and finalize the matches between mentors and entrepreneurs.
